In a strategic move to enhance technological development and optimize resource utilization, Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with two leading state technical universities—IKGPTU, Kapurthala, and SBSSU, Ferozepur.
The MoUs were formally signed by Dr. Susheel Mittal, a renowned academician and Vice Chancellor of IKGPTU, who also holds the additional charge of Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU), Ferozepur, and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mittal emphasized the potential of DBU, located in the industrial hub of Mandi Gobindgarh-an internationally recognized center for the iron and steel industry-in contributing significantly to the training of mechanical and product development engineers. Dr. Parveen Bansal, Dean of Research and Development at DBU, highlighted the state-of-the-art automobile and mechanical engineering laboratories at IKGPTU, which will greatly benefit DBU’s future engineers. He also noted the possibility of collaborative research on biosensors- an emerging focus area post-COVID-19 and proposed joint efforts in developing advanced curricula for Allied Health Sciences and paramedical courses.
Dr. Balkar Singh, Dean of College Development at IKGPTU, and Dr. Rajeev Bedi, Associate Dean of Research, appreciated the initiative and assured maximum collaboration in utilizing the academic and technical resources of both institutions. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University described the MoU as a forward-looking step toward the optimal use of government-established world-class labs and workshops under IKGPTU, aimed at empowering students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge.
