Sonu Nigam recalls how Lata Mangeshkar offered him motherly support

Popular singer Sonu Nigam took a trip down memory lane as he recalled an emotional moment from 2013 when, grieving his mother’s loss, late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar comforted him and gave him motherly support backstage.

Sonu shared a throwback image. In the emotional picture, the singer is seen kneeling on a stage with his hands folded in. He is bowing towards Lata Mangeshkar, who is smiling warmly and has her hands folded too.

“This moment takes me back to 2013, just a few months after I lost my mother. I had the honor of performing at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital fundraising show at Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai,” Sonu wrote as the caption.

He recalled how Lata Mangeshkar comforted him by saying she was there for him.

As his film “Tridev” completed 36 years in Hindi cinema, veteran actor Jackie Shroff celebrated the milestone by sharing some moments from the 1989 film.

Jackie shared a video montage featuring the song “Gali Gali Mein Firata Hain Tu” sung by Alka Yagnik and Manhar Udhas.

The video also showcased an action scene starring Jackie along with Naseeruddin Shah and Sunny Deol throwing a grenade at late star Amrish Puri. The clip concluded with “Oye Oye, Tirchhi Topi Wale” sung by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee.

Jackie did not add any captions, instead he used: “#36yearsoftridev.”

Directed by Rajiv Rai, Tridev stars Naseeruddin Shah, Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Sangeeta Bijlani, Sonam, Anupam Kher and Amrish Puri. The sneak peek shows a conversation taking place between a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee and his wife. The man explains to his wife that freedom is not what one gets in an alien land. "It is walking free in one's land, one's own soil. Our child will be born free in our land," he explains.
