Gurugram Deputy Commissioner directs depts to resolve waterlogging before monsoon

The Gurugram district administration is in action mode to tackle waterlogging problem in the city, officials said on Tuesday.

To take stock of the arrangements made by the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to provide relief to the people, Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar visited the critical points of waterlogging and inspected the works related to drainage.

During this, officials of the MCG and GMDA were also present.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday directed officials of the Forest Department to build maximum check dams in hilly terrains to conserve rainwater.

“This will also help retain the groundwater level,” the Chief Minister, reviewing projects of various departments, including the Home, Revenue, Environment, Forest and Wildlife and Transport, related to ‘CM Announcements’.

He will review the remaining departments on April 29, an official statement said. Saini told officials not to compromise on quality at any cost in the construction of check dams. He also directed to check the current condition of all the old check dams and repair them.

Haryana Minister visits Bandhwari landfill site in Gurugram to review civic work

Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel visited the waste management plant located at Bandhwari and reviewed the ongoing work in the plant on Saturday.

On this occasion, he also held a meeting with municipal officials and representatives of agencies doing waste management work.

During the meeting, the Minister gave clear instructions to further speed up the garbage disposal work and complete the work within the stipulated time frame.

He said that the state government is fully committed to cleanliness and environmental protection, and any kind of negligence in this direction will not be tolerated.

Haryana Industry and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh said that new dimensions will be given to development works in the Farrukhnagar area in the next five years.

He said that, in view of the geographical location of the area, this area will be the priority of investors in Gurugram in the coming time, which will also create new employment opportunities here.

The minister said that by the year 2029, the population of Farrukhnagar town will reach around three lakh.

"The increasing population also brings problems with it; in such a situation, the government will try to fulfil whatever demands the common people have regarding the development of the area in the coming five years. The Haryana Right to Service Commission on Friday said it has taken a tough stance on irregularities and biased conduct in the process of verification of wills registered at the estate office in Karnal city.

The commission has found the role of Assistant District Attorney Avtar Singh Saini inconsistent and without accountability.

A commission spokesperson, while giving information, said the investigation regarding the irregularities made it clear that uniformity was not followed in the verification process, and selected applicants were targeted and unnecessarily harassed.

DTCP demolishes ten illegal colonies in Gurugram’s Sohna block

A team of the District Town and Country Planning (DTCP) department conducted a demolition drive in Gurugram's Sohna block, where ten illegal colonies were being developed over an area of around 15 acres, the officials said on Thursday.

The district town planner, along with its team, carried out a demolition drive in the area.

DTCP officials claimed that these colonies were being developed illegally in Alipur, Ghamroj, Bhondsi, and Sehjawas villages without prior permission from the concerned department.

During the drive, three illegal colonies were demolished in Alipur village. It was coming up over eight acres of land. During this, 7 boundary walls, an under-construction house, and a road network were demolished.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that it is the collective responsibility of all of us to attentively listen to public grievances and address them in a timely manner. He said that if officials proactively take note of people's concerns, their resolution can be expedited effectively.

The Chief Minister said while chairing the meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee in Gurugram on Wednesday.

During the meeting, 19 complaints were placed, of which the Chief Minister resolved 18 on the spot. He instructed that one case be kept pending until the next meeting, directing the concerned officials to present a status report at that time. "The citizens should not encounter any inconvenience,” CM Saini said and called for special attention to cleanliness in the city, aiming to make Gurugram clean and beautiful.

Encounter breaks out in J&K's Kulgam district

A gunfight between the security forces and the terrorists has broken out in J&K's Kulgam district on Wednesday, hours after two terrorists were killed as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district.

Officials said that the security forces surrounded the Tangmarg area in Kulgam after getting intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists there.

"As the security forces closed in on the hiding terrorists, they fired, triggering an encounter, which is now going on. Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the area to ensure that the terrorists are prevented from escaping," an official said.

Earlier in the day, the Army's Srinagar-headquartered Chinar Corps posted on X that "approximately 2-3 terrorists attempted to infiltrate through the general area of Sarjeevan at Uri Nala, Baramulla" and "alert troops on the Line of Control (LC) challenged and intercepted them, leading to a firefight".

A 26-year-old Navy officer, Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who got married on April 16, from Haryana's Karnal city, was among 16 people killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir.

He was on honeymoon in Pahalgam when the tragedy occurred. His wife, Himanshi, hails from Gurugram.

His wedding reception was solemnised on April 19. Hailing from Bhusli village in Karnal district, Narwal was currently living in Sector 7 in Karnal city.

He had joined the Navy three years ago.

"We were just having bhelpuri... and then a gunman shot my husband. The gunman said my husband was not a Muslim and then shot him," the officer's wife said.

Haryana CM to inaugurate 18 road projects costing 115 crore in Gurugram

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will dedicate 18 road development projects worth over Rs 115 crore related to the Public Works Department (PWD) in Sohna and Pataudi Assembly constituencies in Gurugram on April 23, officials said.

The Chief Minister will also inaugurate the first modern street of Haryana at Udyog Vihar during his visit.

Executive Engineer of PWD Charandeep Singh Rana said that Chief Minister Saini will inaugurate the Loh Singhani to Chamanpura Road, Nunera from BPDS Road, and Alipur Hari Heda from Loh Singhani to Chamanpura Road, built in the Sohna assembly constituency.
