Gurugram: Four held for fraudulently selling iPhones via social media

A cybercrime police station team (east) of the Gurugram Police has arrested four suspects for fraudulently selling an iPhone through social media, police said.

An official identified the accused as Sunny, Aniket, Hitesh Jangra, and Mukesh alias Rohit, all residents of Hisar district in Haryana.

He said that the police team has recovered six mobile phones, one ATM card, two bank passbooks, and cash worth Rs 18,000 from the possession of the accused.

The official pointed out that a complaint was received on January 29 at the said police station regarding cheating of about Rs 30,000 in the name of selling iPhones through social media.

In a major crackdown against 33 vehicle owners and drivers, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has recommended 29 FIRs and imposed a penalty of Rs 54 lakh for throwing garbage and debris in public places.

Additional Commissioner of MCG, Balpreet Singh, said that the Sanitation Security Force (SSF) of the MCG is monitoring round the clock and seven days a week.

He added that the team has recommended 29 FIRs in different police stations against 33 vehicle owners or drivers in the case of illegal dumping.

“A fine of Rs 54 lakh has also been imposed on violators in different areas in the case of illegal dumping and banned plastic,” he said.

A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing to death a woman over a relationship dispute with another man, police said on Tuesday.

Police said that they received information from Rewari Government Hospital regarding a woman named Neelam (25) being brought in dead due to knife injuries on Monday.

Following the information, a police team from Bilaspur police station reached the hospital and took custody of the body.

A cybercrime police station team of the Gurugram Police has arrested four accused for allegedly duping a victim of Rs 1.20 lakh by threatening to make fake pornographic videos viral, police said.

A complaint in this regard was filed in October 2024 at the cybercrime police station (south), and a case was later registered under the relevant sections at the police station.

During the investigation, the police team led by Inspector Naveen Kumar, station house officer of the said police station, nabbed the four accused on Friday from Sikar, Rajasthan.

The accused were identified as Sameer, Roop Kishore, Shravan, and Manoj, all residents of Sikar, Rajasthan.

A joint demolition drive was conducted by the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) in Gurugram's Sector-69 area on Wednesday.

Earlier, GMDA cleared over 60 acres of green belts along SPR, while regular monitoring of the stretch is also being carried out.

R.S. Baath, Nodal Officer for encroachments in Gurugram and DTP GMDA, along with the Enforcement Wing of GMDA, MCG, officers took action against illegal encroachment in Sector 69.

Baath said that more than 50 police personnel were also present during the drive, adding that about two restaurants, one office premise, two car washing areas and two car polish shops were demolished.

“These shops and establishments were constructed without any due permission along the service roads under GMDA jurisdiction,” he said

Gurugram Police unearths Rs 80.12 crore cyber crime fraud committed by 13 accused across India

The cyber crimes teams of the Gurugram Police have arrested 13 cyber criminals who defrauded people across India in 8,369 complaints worth Rs 80.12 crore, police said on Wednesday.

The arrested were identified as Atul Kumar, Rohit, Meenu Chaudhary, Yatin Kumar Pathak, Rahul, Munesh, Aditiya Chaturvedi, Avinash Sharma, Ram Prakash, Mujummil, Nilofar, Abhishek Kumar Mishra and Harshit Shukla.

The accused were arrested by different teams of the Cyber Crime Police Station of the Gurugram Police. According to the police, after reviewing the data of the 10 mobile phones by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), six SIM cards were recovered, and it was found that the accused were involved in fraud of about Rs 80.12 crore and around 8,369 complaints were registered against them across India.

An official said that around 327 cases were registered across India, and out of these, 18 cases were registered against them in Haryana, including six in Gurugram.

Three people have been arrested for allegedly performing stunts in a moving car in the Badshahpur area here in Gurugram, police said on Tuesday.

The Police have also seized three cars that were allegedly found performing stunts recklessly at high speed. The stunts, which disrupted traffic for several minutes, posed a risk to commuters, police said.

The accused were identified as Rohan Yadav, Krishna Yadav, residents of the village Fazilpur Jharssa Gurugram, and Hitesh Yadav, a resident of Sector-21 Gurugram.

An official said that they have also seized a Mahindra Thar, a Swift, and a Verna.

At least 100 hutments in a slum at Gurugram's Basai Chowk area were gutted on Saturday, an official said.

The fire broke out at 6 am, the official said.

"Soon after the Fire Department received a call, fire tenders from different stations were pressed into service to douse the flames, which erupted in a hut," an official of the Fire Department said. The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

"Firefighters managed to douse flames within a few hours, and nobody was injured in the incident," the official added.

Gulsan Kalra, Deputy Director of the Fire Department, said: "We have written to the concerned departments on several occasions to remove such encroachments in Gurugram so that we can curb the fire incidents."

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Haryana Branch Office conducted an enforcement raid on 26th March 2025. Raid was conducted on distributor namely M/s Amazon Transportation Services Pvt. Ltd., Industrial Area, Phase 1, Panchkula, Haryana, 134113.

During the enforcement raid, firm was found to be having stock of non ISI marked Toys, Food mixer, Water heater which comes under various QCOs issued for Govt of India. Search & Seizure operation was conducted by team of BIS Officials constituting Sh. Sourabh Chandra, Deputy Director and Sh. Pakki Balu, Assistant Director. Stock of products violating various QCOs of BIS were found and seized during the raid from the disrtibutor. The raid operation conducted by HRBO was successfully executed as per the planned objectives. The primary goals of ensuring compliance with BIS standards and identifying unauthorized use of the BIS certification mark were achieved.
