Amit Negi, Baljeet Kaur from HP scale peaks of Mount Everest

Shimla, June 9 (Sushil Sharma) : Amit Negi from Kinnaur scaled world highest peak of Mount Everest, while Baljeet Kaur scaled toughest peak in Mount Everest Massif.

Amit Negi belongs to village Batseri in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. 

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur himself presented National Flag to Amit Negi on 19th March 19 this year.

Baljeet Kaur hails from Solan district and was part of a 12-member team that was set to attempt to conquer all four peaks that was part of the Everest Massif expedition. The aim of this two-month-long expedition was to make the first Indian ascent of the challenging Mt Nuptse and Mt Pumori, besides making an ascent of the difficult Mt Lhotse and Mt Everest.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today congratulated Amit Negi and Baljeet Kaur  for scaling highest and one of the toughest peaks in the Everest Massif in Nepal respectively. 

The Chief Minister, while appreciating the efforts and achievements of both mountaineers wished them all the best for their future endeavours. He said that these  feats would go a long way in motivating the youth of the State.
