Researchers from Australia, Brazil, Uzbekistan participated in the International Conference of DBU

- Desh Bhagat University organized an international conference on tourism and hospitality trends

Fatehgarh Sahib, July 07 (Ravinder Singh Dhindsa) : School of Hotel Management & Tourism at Desh Bhagat University organized an online international conference on emerging trends in the tourism and hospitality industry. Researchers from Australia, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka, and India participated in the confrence. Topics like digital flavors, Satvik food, E-marketing, artificial intelligence, etc were discussed by the participants. Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University addressed the conference and emphasized that we must look for sustainable options so that the tourism industry does not get paralyzed again. Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor DBU expressed that tourism may bounce back sooner than expected as we have seen before the second wave when things were eased out, people started visiting places and domestic tourism saw a growth.

Dr. Palwinder Kumar, the conference chair welcomed all the participants and guests. Dr. Ampu Harikrishnan, Pro VC of Himalayan Garhwal University was the chief guest on an opening day. In his address, he said that tourism must not stop and keep complaining of COVID-19 but should bounce back. “We need to re-skill our workforce to rebound”, were the views of Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, Director, IHM Bhopal. Prof Leonardo from ESPM, Brazil delivered the keynote address on closing day and he stated that we must look for domestic tourism to overcome the effects of COVID-19. Whereas Deepak from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia visualized the future of the tourism industry where the robots will be performing the majority of the functions. Prof. Shalini Gupta in her address said that cinematic tourism, virtual tourism, etc can be the new focus points moving ahead.
