Dilabardeep Singh brought laurels to Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib by winning gold medal at All India Inter-varsity Weight lifting Championship held from March 15, 2023 to March 18, 2023 in the category of 109 plus. More than 1000 students from more than 120 universities took part in this championship. Dilabardeep Singh had also brought gold at Senior National Championship held at Tamil Nadu, where he represented Punjab. Sharing his experiences, Dilabardeep said that his hard work and training for last seven years, has paid off and helped him to perform extraordinarily by lifting 318 kgs. He stressed that nutritious, healthy, homemade food and dedicated trainings sessions at the University have helped him to perform well. Prof Bhupinder Singh, Head, Department of Physical Education and Sports Science congratulated Dilabardeep Singh and expressed his delight over his performance. He shared that the Department has been organizing morning and evening training sessions on regular basis for the students, so that they are able to hone their skills. He added that the faculty of the Department is also working consistently for the betterment of the students. Prof Prit Pal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University congratulated Dilabardeep and the Department on this glorious acheivement and urged the students to take inspiration from Dilabardeep and to keep trying persistently towards achieving their goals. He emphasised that sports grooms the personality of individuals and help them to maintain physical and mental well being. He also expressed that such students are an inspiration and motivation for their fellow students.Prof Ajaib Singh Brar, Pro-Chancellor of the University also congratulated Dilabardeep and motivated the students to participate in games, so as to stay fit and focussed towards the goal of their life.
