June 3:
On the occasion of World Cycle Day, a cycle rally was organized by Municipal Corporation and Chandigarh Smart City on Saturday. Mayor Anoop Gupta, Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra and many employees of the Municipal Corporation were present in this. Everyone started cycling from the Community Center of Sector-42 and covered almost half of the city.
The Mayor said that everyone should ride a bicycle to be healthy. Cycle tracks exist in Chandigarh, so people can cycle to their destination without alighting on the main road. The Mayor has launched the 'Chipkar' campaign a day in advance with the aim of making cycling safe in the city. These reflective stickers are very useful for the cyclists who come in the dark as these stickers on the cycles are visible to the motorists from a distance. This reduces accidents.
Mayor Anoop Gupta said that with this campaign our laborers who ride cycles will be more secure on the road. Let us inform that “My Life My Beautiful City” campaign is also going on by the Municipal Corporation. Under this, people can donate household items at the city's RRR stores till June 5. 34 RRR centers have been set up in each ward of the city at community centres, Sahaj Safai Kendras, charitable institutions, religious places or Market Welfare Associations (MWA) shops. Where people can donate.
