Week-Long Celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Purab Concludes at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

The week-long celebrations of the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, concluded today with great devotion and enthusiasm at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University. The event had begun on 18 November with the cleanliness drive inaugurated by the vice chancellor of the university Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh. Various competitions like poster making and slogan writing competitions on the life, teachings and travels of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Declamation contest on "Relevance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Teachings in Present Day" and individual shabad singing competitions were organised. The winners of these competitions were awarded with certificates and mementos. The University also organized a painting exhibition, and a free physiotherapy and blood donation camp. The event concluded with the bhog of sehaj path of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, followed by the Kirtan Darbar. Sukhwinder Singh Rattol, Pracharak Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee was the invited speaker. In his address, he elaborated on the history and philosophy of Guru Nanak Sahib. He inspired the students to follow the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev ji, especially the concept of welfare of all.The Pro-Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) Ajaib Singh Brar while addressing the congregation deliberated upon the philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He emphasized the contemporary importance of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings and inspired the students to imbibe Guru Sahib's principles in their lives. He appreciated that the University is dedicated to spreading the message enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Prof. (Dr.) Pritpal Singh congratulated the students and faculty, and inspired them to seek guidance and moral strength from the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He said that the University is committed to spread the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji among the youth, so that the young generation can be guided on the righteous path. Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs proposed the vote of thanks. The event was organised under the leadership of the Dean, Students' Welfare Dr. Sikandar Singh. Head of various Departments, faculty members and students of the University were present to pay their homage. On this occasion, a street play was presented by the students. At the end, the students of the Physical Education Department performed Gatka and later plantation campaign was launched at the University to sensitise students about the preservation of the environment.
