New Delhi, 19 Feb:

As soon as the hearing regarding the Chandigarh mayor election started, the Supreme Court said that the mayor has resigned, after which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) asked that the ballots marked by the returning officer should be counted correctly. The Solicitor General said that re-election was demanded earlier.

It should be said that the Supreme Court is strict on spoiling the ballot papers. The Supreme Court has summoned the election ballot papers. The Supreme Court will hold a hearing on Tuesday at 2 pm. Ballot papers have been demanded from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The Supreme Court has asked to bring the ballot paper with adequate security. Apart from this, a complete video of the counting of votes has also been requested

The Supreme Court had put a question mark on the manner of voting and declaration of results for the election of Mayor. Along with this, the court also banned the meetings of the corporation. Along with this, many questions were also raised on the election officer. The hearing on this matter is going on today. Earlier on Sunday, the newly appointed Mayor Manoj Sonkar had resigned from his post.

Three Aam Aadmi Party councilors joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday ahead of the court hearing. Three AAP councilors Neha Musawat, Gurcharan Kala and Poonam Devi have joined the BJP. All the three councilors said that they joined the BJP after being impressed by the actions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Sunday, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde and former state president Arun Sood gave party membership to the three councillors.
