Chandigarh, 06 March

Today, on March 6th, 2024, a widespread protest demonstration swept across Punjab in response to the cancellation order of JTO LICE results and the demand for the withdrawal of the said orders issued by the corporate office BSNL DELHI. Comrade H.S.Dhillon, the Circle Secretary of BSNLEU Punjab, alongside other prominent leaders such as Comrade Moti Lal Sharma, President of BSNLEU Chandigarh, Comrade Ravi Kant, a senior leader, Comrade Kamaldeep Singh, ACS, and Comrade Anil Kumar, District Vice President, addressed the gathering at the GMT office BSNL Chandigarh.

It is deeply concerning that despite JTO LICE exams being conducted in Punjab for the Vacancy Years of 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18, the results were not declared due to pending court cases. However, upon the withdrawal of the court case on October 11th, 2023, obstacles to result declaration were removed. Consequently, the results for the Vacancy Year 2014-15 were declared, and successful candidates were sent for training.

However, the management's decision to cancel the JTO LICE exams conducted for the vacancy years 2015-16, 2016-17, and 2017-18 through a letter dated February 20th, 2024, citing excess manpower in the JTO(T) cadre in Punjab circle is egregious and arbitrary. This decision has severely impacted the future prospects of over a hundred young employees.

BSNLEU condemns this unjust and autocratic decision by the CMD BSNL. While results have been declared and candidates have become JTOs in other circles, Punjab faces the cancellation of exams after 8 years. In response, the All India Centre of BSNLEU has called for protest demonstrations nationwide on March 6th, 2024, demanding the withdrawal of the Corporate Office letter dated February 20th, 2024, and immediate declaration of the results of the affected exams.

Demonstrations have been organized in all BSNL offices across Punjab, highlighting the collective outrage and demand for justice in this matter.
