More than 79000 complaints have been registered on Election Commission's C-Vigil app

New Delhi, 29 March :

The general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha are going to be held from April 19. Meanwhile, the Election Commission said on Friday (March 29) that the Commission's C-Vigil app has become a major weapon against election violators. The Election Commission had announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections on March 16. Since then, more than 79000 complaints have been registered on the C-Vigil app.

According to the Election Commission, 99% of the complaints received so far have been resolved. 89% of these were resolved within 100 minutes. The Election Commission said illegal hoardings and banners received the highest number of complaints at 58,500 while over 1,400 complaints were related to money, gifts and distribution. About 3% of complaints (2,454) related to property disturbances. The Election Commission also said that 535 complaints were of threats. Out of these 529 have been settled. 100 complaints of speaker playing after time limits have also been registered.
