April 02, 2024

New Delhi, April 2

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh after the Enforcement Directorate granted a concession in the money laundering case related to the Delhi Liquor Policy case.

After the ED said it had no objection to grant him bail, the court ordered Sanjay Singh's release on bail, clarifying that the court had not expressed anything on the merits.

A bench of Justices Sanjeev Khanna, Dipankar Dutta and PB Varley clarified that Singh would be entitled to engage in political activities during the bail period. The bench also said that the orders would not be treated as precedent.

Additional Solicitor General SV Raju gave the concession on behalf of the ED at 2 pm. During the hearing in the afternoon session, the bench S.V. Raju was asked whether Singh needs to be kept in further custody or not.
