A Series of Hundred Lectures on Sri Guru Granth Sahib by Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, 29 April (Ravinder Singh Dhindsa) : A series of one hundred special lectures on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was started today by the Department of Religious Studies, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. In this regard the Vice Chancellor Prof. Pritpal Singh said that the study, research and propagation of Guru Granth Sahib is one of the basic objectives of this University. In view of the growing importance of social media, the University has launched a special lecture series to provide quality and accurate information on various aspects of Guru Granth Sahib Ji to the Sikh community all over the world. The speech series being conducted by the Department of Religious Studies will be extended to all the corners of the world through 'Dhur Ki Bani' YouTube channel. He said that initially all these lectures would be in Punjabi language but later the series will be translated into other major languages of the world. Professor Sarabjinder Singh, Dean Faculty, Humanities and Religious Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, was the first keynote speaker of the series. He said that this initiative of the University was very important and commendable. Inaugurating the series of speeches on the theme 'Avatran of Dhur Ki Bani', Prof. Sarabjinder Singh said that all the scriptures of the world are revered and Sri Guru Granth Sahib has a unique place and importance of its own. Dr. Hardev Singh, Head, Department of Religious Studies said that these lectures would meet the needs of the Sikh community and research scholars. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and Scholarly Speaker Prof. Sarabjinder Singh and hoped that the entire academic world and the Khalsa Panth would extend full support to the department for this work. Jagjit Singh Deputy Registrar of the University, faculty members and students of various departments were present on the occasion.
