At Rangard Nangal on Batala Mehta Road around 7 pm on Wednesday, a speeding tipper overturned a lorry loaded with timber. A hawker who was going to distribute newspapers died on the spot after being hit by an uncontrollable hawk. According to information collected from the spot, Satnam Singh (40), son of Gurdeep Singh, who has been distributing newspapers for the past 20 years, was going to distribute newspapers in different villages by taking newspapers from Badowal Mehta Chowk. When he reached Rangar Nangal near Chaudharywal, a speeding tipper from behind hit the side of the lorry loaded with timber, causing the lorry to lose control and engulf the hawker Satnam Singh, killing him. Died on the spot. The unidentified tipper driver drove the tipper away from the spot, while the truck driver, another person sitting with him and a small child escaped unhurt. With the death of Hakar Satnam Singh, a wave of mourning has spread in the area.
