World University Research Journal Included in the UGC CARE List

Today, a meeting of the editorial board of The Journal of Religion and Sikh Studies was convened at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. The University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, expressed his delight at the inclusion in the UGC CARE list, deeming it a prestigious achievement for the university. He emphasised that the Journal is an internationally recognised, peer-reviewed publication known for its high-quality contributions and rigorous editorial standards. The Vice-Chancellor of the University extended gratitude to esteemed professors from Punjab, India, and abroad who have graciously agreed to serve on the journal's advisory board, and he encouraged the editorial team to maintain their enthusiasm and dedication. During the meeting, Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, disclosed that ten special issues of the Journal have been successfully published, with a focus on Gurmat principles, Sikh tradition, and historical discourse. He highlighted the distinguished members of the advisory board of the Journal, including luminaries such as Professor Balkar Singh, former Director, World Punjabi Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala; Professor Harpal Singh Pannu, Chairperson, Guru Nanak Chair for Studies in Universal Advancement, Chandigarh University, Gharuan; Professor Jaspal Kaur Kang, Senior Professor, the Department of Religious Studies of the World University; Professor Jaspreet Kaur Sandhu, Department of Sikh Encyclopedia, Punjabi University, Patiala; Professor Pradyuman Shah Singh, Department of Jain-Buddhist Studies, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; Professor Muhammad Habib, Department of Religion and Islamic Studies, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad; Dr. Michael Halle, Associate Professor, the Department of Religious Studies, Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada; and Dr. Pargat Singh, Chairperson, the Sikh Education Council, UK. The editorial team, comprising Dr. Sikander Singh, Head of the Punjabi Department; Dr. Ankdeep Kaur Attwal, Head of the Department of English; Dr. Sumit Kumar, Head of the Department; Dr. Harneet Billing, In-charge of the Department of Education; and Dr. Nav Shagan Deep Kaur, In-charge of the Department of Sociology, was acknowledged for their dedication and commitment to scholarly excellence. Additionally, Chief Editor of the Journal and Head, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Religious Studies Department, Dr. Hardev Singh, revealed that the forthcoming 2024 special issue of the Journal will be dedicated to exploring the Sikh community and Punjab during the British colonial period. Scholars and researchers are cordially invited to contribute high-quality papers to this significant edition.
