Amritsar/Chandigarh, May 25 : The Aam Aadmi Party gained significant strength in many Lok Sabha constituencies of Punjab on Saturday. About half a dozen big leaders of opposition parties joined AAP in many places, including Amritsar. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann got all the leaders inducted into the party and welcomed them into the AAP family.

The Aam Aadmi Party got a big boost in Amritsar. On the other hand, the Congress party has suffered a major setback. Senior Congress leader Ranjan Aggarwal joined AAP in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. AAP candidate Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and MLA Jeevan Jot Kaur were also present on this occasion.

Ranjan Aggarwal has been active in Amritsar politics since 1990. He has been the District Vice President and General Secretary of Congress, Amritsar. He has been a councillor in Amritsar Municipal Corporation many times. From 2006 to 2010, he was the Leader of Opposition in Amritsar Municipal Corporation. Apart from this, he has worked on many other important posts in Amritsar Municipal Corporation.

Aam Aadmi Party also became stronger in Gurdaspur. Here many leaders Congress, Akali Dal and BJP, along with their supporters, joined AAP. Congress councillor Gaurav Wadhera, BJP District Youth President Bakshish Singh and senior Akali Dal leader and former constituency in-charge of Dera Baba Nanak Parwinder Singh Ghani joined AAP.

The Aam Aadmi Party also gained ground in Doaba. Here retired DTC Paramjit Singh joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Let us tell you that Paramjit Singh retired in March this year. Paramjit Singh joined AAP in the presence of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP candidate from Amritsar Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said in his statement that the people of Punjab are themselves campaigning for us, being satisfied with the work of our government for two years. He said that we have worked for every sector and every section of Punjab. We have made electricity free for common families and provided sufficient electricity to farmers for farming during the day and supplied canal water to 59 percent of the farms. He said that like the assembly elections, in this election too, the Aam Aadmi Party will register a historic victory.
