Sri Fatehgarh Sahib/8 May:
(Ravinder Singh Dhindsa)
In a proud and patriotic celebration, Desh Bhagat University commemorated the resounding success of Operation Sindoor with a vibrant campus-wide event themed "Jai Hind – Nation First." The event honored the courage, strategy, and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces, resonating with a deep sense of national pride. The celebrations began with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony, led by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Dr Virinder Singh adviser to Chancellor and Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, followed by the national anthem. A spirited “Jai Hind March” saw students, faculty, and staff unite in chanting slogans like "Operation Sindoor – Bharat Ka Jawab Nahin " and "Desh Bhagat salutes our heroes!" A poignant moment of the event was the heartfelt tribute to Sardar Lal Singh Ji, father of Dr. Zora Singh and a valiant freedom fighter in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s Azad Hind Fauj. His contributions were honored with the Tamra Patra by the Government of India in 1972. His legacy continues to inspire the university’s unwavering dedication to patriotism and service. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Zora Singh stated that Desh Bhagat University was born from the spirit of patriotism. The slogan ‘Jai Hind’ is not occasional here—it is our daily greeting and guiding principle.
Dr. Harsh Sadawarti added that Every DBU student carries forward the legacy of freedom fighters and the courage of our armed forces. Our mission is nation-building in every sense. To continue the patriotic spirit, the university announced upcoming activities including an essay competition, a defence webinar with ex-army officers, and a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Army.
