Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, in collaboration with the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Ministry of Education, is set to host a five-day national workshop from June 9 to June 13, 2025, at the University School of Financial Studies.
This academically significant workshop is focused on the development of the ‘Fundamental Glossary – Commerce (English–Punjabi)’, a key step toward promoting bilingual terminology and enhancing language accessibility in commerce education.
Prof. Karmjit Singh, Vice Chancellor of GNDU, is the Chief Patron of the initiative, reflecting the university’s dedication to inclusive and forward-thinking academic projects.
The workshop is being coordinated at the national level by Mr. Inderdeep Singh, Assistant Scientific Officer (Commerce), who is the designated Officer In-Charge from CSTT, Ministry of Education. On behalf of GNDU, Dr. Harsandaldeep Kaur, Associate Professor and Head of the University School of Financial Studies, is serving as the Local Convenor.
The workshop will witness collaborative participation from experts in commerce and linguistics, particularly from the University School of Financial Studies and the School of Punjabi Studies. Among the key participants is Dr. Manmohan Singh, Professor of Eminence and a distinguished authority in linguistic development, whose contribution is expected to be pivotal to the project’s success.
This initiative aligns with the broader goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing multilingual education and resource development in Indian languages. The glossary produced through this workshop will serve as a standardized academic reference for educators, students, and researchers alike.
