Historic Marathon Against Drugs Sets First National Record in Shri Fatehgarh Sahib

In a groundbreaking initiative led by Dr. Sona Thind, Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib, in collaboration with Dr. Hitender Suri, President of Rotary Club Sirhind, a monumental anti-drug marathon titled “Run For Life” was successfully organized under the Punjab Government’s flagship campaign “Yudh Nashiyan Virudh” (War Against Drugs). This initiative has etched its name into history by setting a National Record for the largest organizational participation in an anti-drug campaign across the country. This record has been officially registered in the India Book of Records. This historic event witnessed the active participation of approximately 3000 individuals, representing 232 organizations, all united under a single banner to combat the menace of drug addiction. The massive scale of this campaign saw representation from all walks of life, including 58 schools, 25 institutes and colleges, 92 government departments under the district administration, 26 private organizations, and 31 NGOs. This record-setting marathon has become a proud milestone for the sacred land of Fatehgarh Sahib, renowned for the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzadas. More than just an event, the marathon became a symbol of unity, awareness, and resolve—inspiring thousands to take a stand for a drug-free Punjab. The vision and coordination of Dr. Sona Thind and Dr. Hitender Suri were instrumental in executing this massive endeavor with precision and impact. Their dedication and leadership have scripted a new chapter in the district’s history—one that speaks of collaboration, purpose, and an unshakable commitment to social welfare. The National Record Certificate ceremony was held at the office of Dr. Sona Thind, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib. Among the dignitaries present at the occasion were Dr. Hitender Suri, President of Rotary Club Sirhind, Rtn. Vineet Sharma, Secretary; Rtn. Suneel Bector, Treasurer; Rtn. Adv. Satpal Garg, Project Incharge; along with members Rtn. Yogesh Bimbra, Rtn. Shekhar Bither, Rtn. Anil Sood, Rtn. Pardeep Malhotra, Rtn. Kamal Gupta, Rtn. Balwant Singh Gogi, Rtn. Varun Mangi, Rtn. Daljeet Batra, and  Surinder Bhardwaj, all of whom contributed to making this initiative a resounding success. This unprecedented achievement not only highlights the strength of community collaboration in Fatehgarh Sahib but also serves as a powerful message to the rest of the nation—the war against drugs can and must be won through unity and action.
