Desh Bhagat University and Global School Celebrate International Yoga Day with Zeal and Unity

Desh Bhagat University (DBU) marked International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm and a strong focus on overall well-being. The theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health" resonated with a global message of unity, sustainability, and health for everyone. The celebration began at 6:00 AM at the University’s Student Centre, with around 500 participants - students, faculty, non-teaching staff, and special guests. The day was filled with a sense of calm and energy, creating a refreshing start.
The event kicked off with stage preparations and a welcome address by Dr. Anil Joshi, a Professor in the Department of Swasthavritta. At 7:00 AM, attendees watched a live telecast of the Prime Minister of India’s address, emphasizing the importance of the occasion. A soulful prayer preceded the yoga session, which was led by an expert from CM di Yogshala. This expert guided participants through various yoga poses and breathing techniques. The celebrations wrapped up with a Valedictory Session, the singing of the National Anthem, and a Tree Plantation Ceremony, highlighting the university's commitment to sustainable living. University dignitaries, including  Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Dr Kulbhushan, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Amarjit Singh, Registrar Surinder Kapoor, and other respected officials and faculty members were present at the event. External guests, like Chetan Banger (SDM, Amloh), Harpal Singh (Naib Tehsildar), and other administrative leaders, also attended, enhancing the occasion's significance. Harpal Singh, Naib Tehsildar honoured Dr. Zora Singh on behalf of sub-division administration. Meanwhile, Desh Bhagat Global School also celebrated the day with equal fervor. Under the guidance of Principal Indu Sharma, students participated virtually in mass yoga sessions led by trained instructors. The school hosted engaging activities such as quiz and essay competitions, along with participation in Ministry of Ayush-led contests via the MyGov platform.
