Two Faculty Members of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Present Research at International Congress in Turkey

Faculty members Dr. Charan Kamal Sekhon and Dr. Monika Airi of the Department of Zoology, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, participated in the 10th International Congress on Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, held in Turkey. The congress brought together scholars and researchers from various countries to deliberate on current developments in the fields of agriculture and veterinary sciences.
Dr. Charan Kamal Sekhon, Head of the Department of Zoology, with a specialization in Insect Pest Management and over 15 years of research experience, delivered a lecture on “Diversity, Distribution and Economic Significance of Noctuid Pests in the Lower Himalayan Region of India.” Her presentation focused on the ecological and agricultural impact of noctuid moths in the Himalayan foothills and emphasized the need for effective pest management strategies. Dr. Monika Airi, Assistant Professor in the department, with nearly 17 years of research experience in the biocontrol of insect pests, presented a review paper titled “A Review on the Present Status of Genus Uscana, an Egg Parasitoid of the Stored Grain Pest Callosobruchus maculatus, and its Biocontrol Potential.” Her talk underlined the role of Uscana species in sustainable post-harvest grain protection and their relevance in integrated pest management approaches. The participation of both faculty members in the international event reflects the department’s active engagement in meaningful research and its contribution to global academic and scientific discussions.
