Chandigarh, July 5, 2025:
To mark the occasion of Van Mahotsav, DAV College, Sector 10, Chandigarh organized a Tree Plantation Drive on its campus on 5th July 2025. The event was held in collaboration with the Forest Department, Chandigarh, as part of a collective effort to promote environmental sustainability and awareness among students.
A total of 70 saplings were planted during the drive, including a diverse mix of flowering, medicinal, and fruit-bearingplants. The plantation aimed to enhance the college’s green cover while also educating students on the ecological importance of trees.
Principal Dr. Mona Narang inaugurated the drive and emphasized the role of youth in preserving the environment. The event was coordinated by NSS Programme Officers Dr. Nitesh Goyal, Dr. Kashma Sharma, and Dr. Yogyata Pathania, who guided and motivated the student volunteers throughout the activity. Teachers, non-teaching staff, and a large number of NSS volunteers also participated with great enthusiasm.
Speaking on the occasion, college authorities expressed their gratitude to the Forest Department for their support and guidance. The celebration of Van Mahotsav served as a reminder of our responsibility to safeguard nature and inspired the students to actively engage in eco-friendly practices.
The college reaffirmed its commitment to continue such green initiatives and contribute to building a sustainable and healthy environment for future generations.
