Workshop on “The Sociology of Everyday Life: Observing, Questioning and Understanding” at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

The Department of Sociology at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a one-week workshop on “The Sociology of Everyday Life: Observing, Questioning and Understanding.” The intellectually stimulating event brought together esteemed scholars, faculty, and students to explore the nuanced relevance of sociology in daily life and to develop a critical lens for interpreting the social world. Prof. Pritpal Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University, while inaugurating the workshop emphasized the need for sociological thinking in understanding contemporary realities.Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean Academic Affairs, graced the occasion as the special guest and commended the Department for organizing a workshop that connects academic theory with lived experience. The workshop was convened by Dr. Nav Shagan Deep Kaur, Head of the Department of Sociology. She delivered a lecture on “Thinking Sociology: Beyond Common Sense – What Makes Sociology Different from Personal Opinion or Common Belief."
