Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Organizes National Seminar on “Understanding the NCAHP 2021 Act & Its Impact”

The Department of Physiotherapy at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a National Seminar on “Understanding the NCAHP 2021 Act & Its Impact”, bringing together eminent policy-makers, academic leaders, and healthcare professionals to deliberate on one of the most significant reforms in allied health sciences in India. The seminar was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Yagna Unmesh Shukla, Chairperson, National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), Government of India. Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Billing, Dean Academic Affairs welcomed the dignitaries and emphasized that the NCAHP Act, 2021, is not merely a legislative framework but a visionary roadmap for standardization, regulation, and ethical excellence in allied health education and practice. In the Keynote Address, Dr. Shukla offered a comprehensive perspective on the Act’s objectives, scope, and implementation strategies. She highlighted its pivotal role in enhancing professional recognition, ensuring uniform quality standards, and creating structured career pathways for allied and healthcare professionals. Stressing the importance of organized governance, she called for the establishment of a State Council. Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh, the Vice Chancellor of the University while delivering Presidential address underscored the role of visionary leadership in transforming healthcare reforms into tangible advancements in patient care and professional development. He commended the Department of Physiotherapy for its outstanding contributions through health camps, seminars, and community outreach programs. A major highlight of the seminar was the Panel Discussion on “From Policy to Practice: Realizing the Vision of the NCAHP Act, 2021”, moderated by Dr. Supreet Bindra, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Physiotherapy. The distinguished panel included Dr. Shukla, Prof. (Dr.) A.G.K. Sinha (Punjabi University, Patiala), Dr. V.P. Gupta (MRIIRS, Faridabad), Dr. Pooja Sethi (RML Hospital, Delhi), Prof. (Dr.) Manu Goyal (MMU, Mullana), and Dr. Pankajpreet Singh (Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, SGGSWU). Prof. (Dr.) Tejbir Singh, Registrar, also graced the event.The event witnessed active participation from over 600 delegates representing 40+ institutions across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Rajasthan, along with professionals from nearly 20 hospitals. Key themes included strategies for effective Act implementation, curriculum alignment with national standards, strengthening accreditation and licensing systems, and ensuring direct impact on patient care outcomes. Panelists unanimously emphasized multi-stakeholder engagement, continuous skill development, and widespread awareness of the Act’s provisions. Dr. Supreet Bindra extended heartfelt appreciation to all dignitaries, participants, and the organizing team for making the seminar a resounding success.
