The Department of Political Science organized a special lecture on “Land Pooling Policy of the Punjab Government: Its Political Implications.” The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Jamshid Ali Khan, an eminent Professor of Political Science. He engaged the audience with an in-depth deliberation on the nuances of the policy under discussion.
Dr. Khan critically analyzed its framework, objectives, and implementation strategies.
He drew attention to several practical challenges and shortcomings that hinder its effectiveness. By highlighting these loopholes, he encouraged participants to reflect on possible reforms and solutions.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor of the University Dr. Pritpal Singh congratulated the Department for organizing the lecture and encouraged such academic discussions. Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Sukhwinder Singh Billing also expressed his views about the demerits of the policy, while Dean Students' Welfare, Dr. Sikander Singh, emphasised the importance of land for farmers and their livelihood.
Ms. Ramandeep Kaur, Incharge, Department of Political Science, welcomed all the dignitaries and the participants. The session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Balwinder Kaur. Among those present were Professor Dr. Jaspal Kaur Kaang, Dr. Harwinder Singh Bhatti, Dr. Hardev Singh, Head, Department of Religious Studies, Navneet Kaur, and Sanjay Khan, faculty member of the Department and students.
