Sri Guru Granth Sahib World Organises a Debate on Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond

The Department of Sociology at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated International Youth Day alignment with the global theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond.” The event aimed to empower students to recognize their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the grassroots level. As part of the program, students took a pledge to contribute towards sustainable development and social responsibility in their communities.
A debate and discussion session allowed the students to share their perspectives on youth-led initiatives, environmental challenges, and social equity. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students presenting thoughtful ideas and actionable solutions.
The event was conducted by Ekroop Kaur and Dr. Harmanpreet kaur Assistant Professors of Sociology. Dr. Nav Shagan Deep Kaur, Head of the Department informed that the event successfully highlighted the importance of youth engagement in shaping a sustainable future and reaffirmed the department's commitment to social awareness and civic responsibility.
