Desh Bhagat University celebrated the vibrant festival of Teej as part of Day four of the Deeksharambh Student Induction Programme. The event was organized to acquaint freshers with the rich cultural heritage of Punjab while creating an atmosphere of joy, bonding, and festive spirit on campus. The celebration commenced with traditional songs, dance performances, and folk activities reflecting the true essence of Punjabi culture. Students enthusiastically participated in Gidha, Bhangra, Mehndi art, and traditional swings, which added charm and colour to the occasion. Faculty members and senior students also joined the festivities, making the event lively and interactive. On this ocassion, Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, addressing the gathering, emphasized the cultural significance of Teej in Punjabi tradition and encouraged students to imbibe cultural values alongside academic excellence. Vice Chancellor Dr. Harsh Sadawarti also appreciated the initiative of blending cultural celebrations with the induction programme, as it fosters a holistic environment for the overall development of students. As the grand finale of the Deeksharambh Programme, a Cultural Show and Miss Teej (for students) and Teej Queen (for faculty members) contests were organized. A total of 22 students and 10 faculty members, dressed in traditional Punjabi attire and jewellery, showcased their talent through Giddha performances and Punjabi singing. The contest featured three rounds of ramp walk, after which Abhishruti was crowned Miss Teej, while Mrs. Navjot Kaur was honoured as Teej Queen. The celebrations concluded with an Open DJ session, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the students, marking a joyous end to the programme.
