Delhi Police crackdown on street criminals, arrest 130

In a crackdown on criminals, Delhi Police’s west district unit arrested 130 people involved in various street crimes in May, including 15 robbers, 42 snatchers, 17 burglars and 56 thieves.

The police registered more than 81 cases of the Arms Act, Excise Act, Gambling Act, and NDPS Act in the month.

Giving details about the action, the police in a press release said that 25 Proclaimed Offenders (PO) were traced, and a huge recovery of cash, mobile phones, two-wheelers and jewellery was made. It also said that a concerted drive was carried out for action against public drinking and mischief-makers in the area.

In action against street criminals, 11 cases were solved with the arrest of 15 robbers. After 42 snatchers were caught, 32 cases were solved, and recovery of cash, 10 mobile phones, six gold chains and two-wheelers was done.

The Indian stock market opened in the red on Monday following negative cues from the global markets.

At around 9:18 am, Sensex was down 676.86 points or 0.83 per cent at 80,774.15 and Nifty was down 181.15 points or 0.74 per cent at 24,568.25.

Selling was seen in the midcap and smallcap stocks. Nifty midcap 100 index was down 104 points or 0.18 per cent at 57,315 and Nifty smallcap 100 index was trading 69 points or 0.39 per cent lower at 17,813.

In the Sensex pack, HUL, Adani Ports, IndusInd Bank, Nestle, SBI, Eternal (Zomato), Asian Paints and Power Grid were the top gainers. HDFC Bank, HCL Tech, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, Tata Steel and Tech Mahindra were the top losers.

According to analysts, the market structure favours continuation of the ongoing consolidation phase.

The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet on Saturday decided to fill 700 posts of Home Guard volunteers in the Home Guards and Civil Defence Department.

It also gave its nod to regularise the services of 203 Panchayat Secretary (Zila Parishad cadre) who have completed two years of contract services as on March 31.

The Cabinet, presided over by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, approved an amendment to the Postgraduate, Specialist Services Policy by withdrawing the mandatory requirement of a one-year field posting before eligibility for Senior Residency at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in Tanda.

A government statement said this decision has been taken in line with the policy followed at AIIMS in Chamiyana.

Hyderabad-based microfinance company Spandana Sphoorty Financial Limited has reported a net loss of Rs 434.3 crore year-on-year (YoY) for the fourth quarter ending March 31 (Q4 FY25).

This is a sharp reversal from the same quarter previous fiscal (Q4 FY24) when the company had posted a profit of Rs 128.6 crore, according to its stock exchange filing.

The company’s revenue from operations dropped significantly by 38 per cent, falling to Rs 414.8 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 669 crore in the same period in previous financial year.

The Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has expressed concern over the recent announcement by US President Donald Trump to double import tariffs on steel and aluminium from 25 per cent to 50 per cent, citing potential disruption to India’s steel and aluminium exports, particularly in value-added and finished steel products and auto- components.

Reacting to the development, FIEO president S.C. Realty firm Puravankara's net loss widens to Rs 88 crore in Q4, revenue declines

Real estate company Puravankara Limited has posted a net loss of Rs 88 crore in Q4 FY25, compared to a net loss of Rs 6.7 crore in the same period in previous fiscal.

Revenue from operations also declined significantly, falling 41 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 541.6 crore, down from Rs 920 crore, according to its stock exchange filing.

The company's operating performance took a hit, with EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) declining 73 per cent to Rs 30.5 crore from Rs 113.4 crore in the same quarter last financial year.

As a result, the EBITDA margin shrank to 5.63 per cent, compared to 12.32 per cent in Q4 FY24.
