Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday announced that her government is working towards achieving a ratio of three hospital beds per 1,000 citizens, a goal that marks a sharp departure from what she described as the dismal healthcare infrastructure left behind by previous governments in the national Capital.

CM Gupta made the remarks while laying the foundation stone for the construction of a new footpath at the SU Block park in Pitampura, located in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency.

Addressing the local residents gathered at the park, she said, "With everyone's blessings, the government is completing 100 days on May 30, and we will present our report card before the public on May 31, but I can say this much that I do not make big promises. But yes, Delhi has now elected a government that can reduce the problems. Your trust is our effort."

Good monsoon to boost farm production, keep inflation in check: Report

The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of an above-normal monsoon is expected to lead to a robust increase in agricultural production and rural demand while helping to keep inflation under control, according to a Crisil report released on Wednesday.

The IMD has predicted above-normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon season (June to September), estimating it at 106 per cent of the long-period average.

“If the forecast, which would mark the second consecutive year of above-normal monsoon, comes true, the economy could expect another year of healthy agricultural output, strengthening rural demand, and keeping a check on food prices,” the report states.

Test tour of England represents a significant turning point for Indian cricket: Pujara

Test tour of England represents a significant turning point for Indian cricket: Pujara

Veteran top-order batter Cheteshwar Pujara believes that the upcoming five-match Test tour of England marks a crucial turning point for Indian cricket, citing the young group of players selected for the series starting on June 20 in Headingley.

India has a new skipper and vice-captain in Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant, respectively, as the youthful side looks to step into a new era of playing Tests after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Historically, India has won only three out of 19 series in England, with the last one coming in 2007 when Rahul Dravid was the side’s captain.

“The India-England Test series has always been a true measure of a team’s grit and adaptability. In the last 100 years, India has managed to win only 3 out of 19 series played on English soil, which highlights just how challenging this contest has been for us.

“With a young and dynamic squad, this tour represents a significant turning point for Indian cricket. I look forward to witnessing how this group rises to the occasion and sets new benchmarks for future generations,” said Pujara in a statement by Sony Sports Network, where he will be seen as a panelist for the broadcasters’ coverage of the five-game series.

Drinking soda, fruit juices may raise diabetes risk: Study

Love to drink sugar-sweetened beverages like soda, fruit juice, or energy and sports drinks? They may raise your risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D), according to a study.

However, dietary sugars consumed in or added to nutrient-dense foods, such as whole fruits, dairy products, or whole grains, do not cause metabolic overload in the liver, said researchers from Brigham Young University in the US.

These embedded sugars elicit slower blood glucose responses due to accompanying fiber, fats, proteins, and other beneficial nutrients, the team said.

For the study, published in the journal Advances in Nutrition, researchers analysed data from over half a million people across multiple continents.
