IndusInd Bank’s stock hits 20 pc lower circuit, erases Rs 14,000 cr in market value

IndusInd Bank shares were locked in a 20 per cent lower circuit on Tuesday as the lender’s internal review projected an adverse impact of approximately 2.35 per cent on its net worth (as of December 2024).

The steep fall erased around Rs 14,000 crore in the bank’s market value. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 720.35, to go below the lower band on the NSE.

The bank’s net worth is expected to decline by nearly Rs 2,100 crore after accounting discrepancies of 2.35 per cent of its net worth were found in its derivatives portfolio during an internal review.

The Hinduja-promoted lender plans to absorb this loss in its Q4 earnings or the first quarter of the next fiscal year (FY26).

Premier League: Newcastle beat West Ham to move into top six

Bruno Guimaraes scored the only goal as Newcastle United recorded an important win at West Ham United, boosting their UEFA Champions League qualifying hopes.

The Magpies' skipper slid in to turn home a Harvey Barnes cross shortly after the hour mark at the London Stadium as Eddie Howe's side set themselves up for Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Liverpool in the best possible way.

Guimaraes latched onto Harvey Barnes’ 63rd-minute cross to volley past Alphonse Areola, who produced a magnificent save to thwart a spectacular Max Kilman own-goal moments earlier.

Eddie Howe’s side were comfortably in control thereafter, as they secured only a second win in five Premier League matches.

Global trade tensions: India is best placed in Asia, says Morgan Stanley

Global trade tensions: India is best placed in Asia, says Morgan Stanley

Trade tensions will likely remain a drag on Asia’s growth but India is still the best placed in the region against this backdrop – low goods exports, strong services exports and policy support for domestic demand, a Morgan Stanley report said on Tuesday.

The reversal of the unwarranted double tightening of fiscal and monetary policies will help drive the recovery in India.

“In fact, monetary easing is hitting full throttle across three fronts – rates, liquidity injection and regulatory easing. Trade tensions will weigh on the region’s trade outlook, but India is less exposed on account of its low goods exports to GDP ratio,” the report mentioned.

It added that the drone "was being monitored" by Israel throughout its flight, which had crossed overnight from Israeli territory into Gaza in what is suspected to be an attempt to smuggle weapons.

The IDF did not specify the number of casualties.

Israeli news website Ynet reported that the IDF is investigating what the drone has smuggled into the Strip.
