WBSSC case: Jobless teachers reach CM Banerjee’s doorstep; whisked away by cops

A group of ‘untainted’ teachers in West Bengal, who lost their jobs following a Supreme Court order last month in the cash-for-job case, reached Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s official residence on Thursday morning to meet her and update her on their condition.

However, the teachers, who turned up at the Chief Minister’s residence without an appointment, did not get the chance to meet Mamata Banerjee.

They were taken away by the security personnel deployed near the Chief Minister’s official residence at Kalighat in South Kolkata.

A city police officer said that on Thursday morning, suddenly, a group of five teachers, all women, arrived at the doorsteps of the Chief Minister’s residence with a plea to meet her, without a prior appointment.

Delhi CM Gupta vows 3 hospital beds per 1,000 citizens

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday announced that her government is working towards achieving a ratio of three hospital beds per 1,000 citizens, a goal that marks a sharp departure from what she described as the dismal healthcare infrastructure left behind by previous governments in the national Capital.

CM Gupta made the remarks while laying the foundation stone for the construction of a new footpath at the SU Block park in Pitampura, located in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency.

Addressing the local residents gathered at the park, she said, "With everyone's blessings, the government is completing 100 days on May 30, and we will present our report card before the public on May 31, but I can say this much that I do not make big promises. But yes, Delhi has now elected a government that can reduce the problems. Your trust is our effort."

WBSSC job case: Questions surface over Mamata Banerjee’s announcement on fresh recruitment

After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the notification of fresh recruitment for teaching and non-teaching jobs will be issued on May 30 and the “untainted” teachers, who lost jobs following a Supreme Court order last month, will have to appear for the written examination, questions and loopholes have started surfacing over her announcement.

The fact that the Chief Minister's announcement about the fresh recruitment process and the state government's persuasion on the review petition in the Supreme Court order will go on simultaneously has led to concerns.

The question that is surfacing on this count is whether the state government and West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) have submitted the segregated lists of “untainted” and “tainted” candidates along with their respective review petitions.

Simultaneously, addicts have been provided the best care and rehabilitation at OOAT centers.”
