Gujarat: AAP to launch statewide outreach campaign from August 1

Aam Aadmi Party's Gujarat chief Isudan Gadhvi announced a large-scale public outreach campaign 'Gujarat Jodo Abhiyan', set to begin from August 1.

The campaign will span from the booth to the state level, with senior party leaders, district, taluka, and municipal representatives conducting over 2,000 public meetings across Gujarat over the next two months.

Addressing the public through a video message, Gadhvi said, "Local issues, especially those affecting farmers, cattle-rearers, and rural youth, will be raised. From unfair prices for agricultural produce to the challenges faced by pastoralists, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will be the voice of the people where others have failed."

He also made a direct appeal to the thousands of young people aspiring to contest Taluka and District Panchayat elections, inviting them to join AAP, stating, "Youth are not given opportunities in BJP or Congress. We want to empower them through our platform."

Under HM Shah the Pahalgam terror attack happened, but where is accountability: Priyanka Gandhi

In a searing speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a direct attack on the Centre over the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, questioning the NDA government’s claims of “normalcy” in Jammu and Kashmir and demanding accountability from Home Minister Amit Shah.

While speaking during the discussion on ‘Operation Sindoor’, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also pointed to the Manipur unrest and Delhi riots and sought accountability from Home Minister Shah.

“Everyone talks about 'Operation Sindoor', and we are proud of our Army. But no one talks about what happened in Pahalgam on April 22 — when people were massacred in front of their family members. What were they doing there? They had gone there believing the government's word — that peace had returned to Kashmir,” she said.

India deserves to know who is behind intelligence failures, says Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and Lok Sabha MP Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday demanded answers from the Centre regarding the security lapse during the Pahalgam terror attack and questioned who would be responsible for the intelligence failure.

Speaking during the Operation Sindoor debate in the Lok Sabha, Yadav said that the country deserves to know who is behind the intelligence failure that led to major terror attacks, including Pulwama and Pahalgam.

"It is unfortunate that even after several years of Independence, such matters (terrorism) concern us. This is not about the ruling and the Opposition but about the security of the country. Why don't we make a strategy to secure our borders once and for all? However, the Pahalgam incident has proved that negligence can claim innocent lives," he said.

Nitish cabinet approves 41 proposals for public welfare

In a key cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar government on Tuesday approved 41 significant proposals aimed at benefiting journalists, youth, women, and the general public.

One of the most prominent announcements was the formal approval to increase the pension of senior journalists from Rs 6,000 to Rs 15,000 per month.

This move is expected to benefit a large number of retired journalists and recognise their contribution to public discourse and governance.

This step comes days after the Chief Minister had made an announcement on the issue on the social media platform X.

With cabinet approval, the scheme now becomes a structured part of Bihar's welfare initiatives, symbolising the inclusion of media welfare in policy priorities.

A massive investment of Rs 1,100 crore has been sanctioned for the establishment of a state-of-the-art Sports Academy in Rajgir.

Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation a political exit camouflaged as constitutional lie: Congress

Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi on Saturday described the resignation of Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar as a "political exit camouflaged as a constitutional lie", accusing the government of showing signs of insecurity over its inability to control the narrative on impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Varma.

Countering Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju's claim that no impeachment motion was admitted in Rajya Sabha other than the one admitted in Lok Sabha, Singhvi told reporters, "Did the Chairman not clearly make the Opposition motion a property of the House when he inquired from the Law Minister about the admission of a separate motion in Lok Sabha?"

He said Dhankhar wanted both Houses to join on the issue, and, perhaps, that is linked to his sudden resignation and silence.

BJP slams Rahul Gandhi over OBC outreach, remarks on EC

A fierce war of words has erupted between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress as political temperatures rise ahead of key elections, with BJP MLA Ram Kadam criticising Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi for what he called "whining before defeat."

“This constant whining by Rahul Gandhi is nothing but an early attempt to prepare the ground for the crushing defeat he’s going to face in Bihar,” said Kadam, referring to LoP Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks questioning the impartiality of the Election Commission.

Countering Congress's OBC outreach, Kadam said, "Rahul Gandhi is now talking about OBCs, but for which community has he really worked? He has been insulting the country by standing with Pakistan supporters and defaming India abroad."

Mayawati slams Rahul Gandhi, says his apology to backward classes ‘selfish politics’

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks admitting that Congress did not do enough for the backward classes.

Rahul Gandhi, while apologising to the backward society, said that both he and his party failed to work as much for the backward classes as they should have, calling it a mistake.

Reacting to this, Mayawati said, “Rahul Gandhi has admitted that Congress did not live up to the expectations of ensuring rights for the backward classes. This is nothing new -- it seems like selfish politics, saying something in the heart and something else on the tongue.”

In a post on X, Mayawati alleged that the Congress has never been sincere about the political and economic aspirations or constitutional rights of the OBC community, including reservation.
