Class 1 student crushed to death by tipper lorry in Hyderabad

In yet another tragic incident, a class 1 student was crushed to death by a tipper lorry at Dundigal on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Friday.

The six-year-old child, who was on way to school with his mother on a scooty, came under the rear wheels of the tipper after both fell off the two-wheeler.

Abhimanshu was crushed to death in front of her mother. She apparently lost control of the scooty after being hit by the tipper.

The incident occurred at Mallampet under the limits of Dundigal Police Station of the Cyberabad Commissionerate in the Medchal Malkajgiri district.

The tragic incident was captured on CCTV camera. The incident led to a huge traffic jam. Police rushed to the spot and regulated the traffic.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 39 containers carrying 1,115 metric tonnes of Pakistani-origin goods, valued at nearly Rs 9 crore, that were being illegally imported into India by sea via Dubai, officials said on Thursday.

In two separate cases, these consignments were seized at Nhava Sheva port.

The consignments were falsely declared as UAE-origin, masking their Pakistani origin.

The Drug Disposal Committee on Thursday burnt seized drugs worth Rs 117.03 crore in eastern Mizoram’s Champhai District, the main hotspot of drug smuggling from neighbouring Myanmar into India’s northeastern region, officials said.

A government official said that drugs valued at Rs 117.03 crore were burnt in the presence of senior officials at Champhai District Hospital Complex. The official said that Champhai district Police seized drugs worth Rs 117.34 crore from June 2024 to April 2025.

Gujarat witnessed widespread rainfall across the state on Thursday, bringing much-needed relief from the recent spell of heat. According to data released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), rainfall was recorded in 144 talukas between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm on June 26.

The heaviest rainfall was reported from Maliya Hatina in Junagadh district, where 5.16 inches of rain was recorded in just 10 hours. Other regions also experienced significant downpours, including Mahuva in Surat (4.76 inches), Visavadar in Junagadh (4.65 inches), Chikhli in Navsari (4.2 inches), and Khergam (4.17 inches).

One terrorist was killed on Thursday in an ongoing gunfight between the security forces and the terrorists in J&K’s Udhampur district’s Basantgarh area.

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti said that four terrorists are believed to be trapped in the ongoing encounter.

Speaking with reporters, the IGP said the contact with the terrorists was established around 8.30 a.m., but the weather is unfavourable.

In an incident of concern, the unnatural death of a tigress and her three cubs, probably due to poisoning, came to light in the Male Mahadeshwara Hills Wildlife Sanctuary in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district on Thursday.

Addressing media persons in Bengaluru, Forests, Ecology, and Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre announced that an investigation has been ordered into the incident and officials have been directed to submit a detailed report within three days.

The traffickers had hidden the gold bars in the bicycle tears, hoping to smuggle them across the border, but they couldn't escape the watchful eyes of the security forces.

The BSF personnel of South Bengal Frontier foiled the smuggling bid and recovered 20 gold biscuits during the operation.

The email, signed in the name of 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab, went beyond the threat of violence, alleging a broader conspiracy involving fake passports issued to former LTTE members.

The hospital administration immediately alerted authorities after receiving the mail. Soon, teams from the local police, fire department, bomb disposal squad, civil defence, and cyber cell reached the hospital and conducted a thorough search.

Delhi Police have begun an investigation into the death of a woman, who allegedly succumbed to injuries during treatment, after being sexually assaulted at a government hospital.

A police team led by Usmanpur SP reached the government-run hospital in North-East Delhi this morning to interrogate the suspects and question the hospital staff about the incident. The hospital administration has also formed a four-member team to assist the police team in cracking the case that has sent shockwaves across the national capital.

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by another patient at the Jag Pravesh Chandra hospital two days ago. She died during treatment at GTB hospital on Wednesday, police said. A complaint of molestation was filed at New Usmanpur station on June 23.

Woman drives car on railway track in Telangana

A young woman created a scare by driving a car on a railway track near Hyderabad on Thursday.

The woman drove the car for about seven kilometres in the Rangareddy district, disrupting railway traffic for about two hours in the morning.

At a level crossing at Kondakal, she turned the car onto the track, sending panic among passersby. Locals tried to stop her at Nagulapalli, but she allegedly threatened them with a knife and sped away.

She drove the car for a distance of about seven kilometres between Nagulapalli and Shankarpalli. A train coming on the same track was stopped after the loco pilot applied the brakes on spotting the car, averting a disaster.

The young woman's action sent the railway staff into a tizzy. Later, the railway employees, with the help of locals, managed to stop the car and overpowered her.
