A special meeting was held at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, to decided the launch of an annual memorial lecture series in memory of Panth Ratan Dr. Inderjit Singh.On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prit Pal Singh shared that under this lecture series, the Department of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Religious Studies will organize annual events focussing on Gurbani, Gurmat principles, and Sikh history. He further stated that the financial support for this initiative is being provided by the Guru Nanak Foundation, New Delhi. The Vice-Chancellor highlighted Dr. Inderjit Singh’s remarkable achievements in the banking sector and his role in encouraging a significant number of Sikhs to join this field. Partap Singh, Director of the Guru Nanak Foundation, presented a cheque of five lakh rupees to the Vice-Chancellor and expressed his delight over the University’s recognition of Sardar Inderjit Singh’s contributions.
Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. (Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing, remarked that honoring distinguished individuals while striving to understand Gurmat principles and Sikh history is a commendable endeavour. Dr. Hardev Singh, Head of the Department of Religious Studies, shared that the bank interest earned from the donation amount will be utilized annually to conduct insightful discussions on important Sikh topics under the lecture series.Prof. (Dr.) Navdeep Kaur, Dean Research extended her gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the Guru Nanak Foundation, New Delhi, for bringing this proposal to fruition. Dr. Ankdeep Kaur Atwal, Coordinator, IQAC Cell; Jagjit Singh, Deputy Registrar and Dr. Nav Shagan Deep Kaur, Head of the Department of Sociology graced the occasion.
