Row over 'Secular', 'Socialist' missing from preamble in Telangana textbook

A controversy has erupted over the omission of the words 'Secular' and 'Socialist' from the preamble of the Indian Constitution published on the cover page of a school textbook in Telangana. The error was noticed in the Class 10 social studies textbook published by the Telangana State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for the academic year 2023-24.

Raj govt schools to help students in opting subjects after Class 10

A career counselling session will be organised at all government senior secondary schools in Rajasthan to provide guidance in subject selections to students who have passed Class 10. On the initiative of state education Minister B.D. Kalla and Minister of State for Education, Zahida Khan, the School Education Department will organise the counselling programme in government schools of all districts from June 28 to July 5 under the 'Dial Future' initiative.

Schools to resume classes in Manipur from 1 July

Schools will resume normal classes in violence-hit Manipur from July 1 instead of June 21 as announced earlier, officials said on Tuesday. Director of Education (School) L. Nandakumar Singh said in a notification that the resumption of normal classes in all schools in Manipur stands deferred till July 1 or until further order. All zonal education officials under the Department of Education are hereby directed to inform all concerned and take up necessary actions accordingly, the notification read.

Hours after the student wing of the CPI(M), the Students Federation of India (SFI), gave a clean chit to its leader Nikhil Thomas in the certificates case, the Vice Chancellor of the Kerala University said that it was strange that a student can study for degree at two universities at the same time. In Thomas's case, the two Universities are Kerala University and Kalinga University of Chhattisgarh.

A plastic waste collection drive was organised on 1 st June, 2023 by the Department of Environment  tudies, Panjab University, Chandigarh under the leadership of Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Chairperson as a part of the World Environment Day Week from 30 th May, 2023 till 5 th June, 2023 to spread the mantra of “LIFE- Lifestyle for Environment” introduced by the prime minister Shri Narender Modi in CoP26 to combat climate change. The drive was an initiative to motivate people to decrease the use of non-biodegradable plastic Masters Student and research scholars from the Department of Environment Studies and NSS volunteers of the Panjab University enthusiastically participated in this activity. Plastic wastes from various departments of the Panjab University, administrative block and other offices were collected.

The Delhi High Court on Friday asked the consortium of National Law Universities (NLU) that why can't the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) be conducted in regional languages like the entrance examinations for medical and engineering courses. A division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad granted four weeks' time to the NLU to file its response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking THE Common Law Admission Test for 2024 (CLAT 2024) be held in all regional languages listed in the eighth schedule of the Constitution.

Swearing-in to hit students writing CET; Shivakumar says precautions taken

The swearing-in ceremony of Siddaramaiah as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka to be held on Saturday in Bengaluru is causing concern among the student community, as thousands are scheduled to appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET) at 122 centres in the capital city on the same day. However, Deputy Chief Minister designate and Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar has said that precautions have been taken to ensure that the students reach the examination centres without facing any problems. The Education Department and the Chief Secretary have been informed in this regard, he said.

HC seeks response of Delhi govt, CBSE on plea seeking common syllabus across India

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought the Delhi government, the CBSE and the NHRC's response on a petition challenging certain provisions of the Right to Education Act, 2009 for being "arbitrary, irrational, and violative" and seeking direction to the Centre to implement common syllabus and curriculum for the students of Class 1 to 8 standard throughout the country. The plea also challenged provisions under the RTE Act which excludes madrasas, Vedic pathshalas and educational institutions imparting religious knowledge.

The students of the Department of English, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib staged William Shakespeare's play Macbeth during the Literary Club activities.The lead roles of King Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were played by the students of BA Hons. in English, second year- Gurinder Singh and Sumit Kaur, respectively. Dilpreet Kaur from  BA Hons. in English first year played the role of Banquo and the role of murderer was performed by Priyanka from BA Hons in English second year. The witches scene was enacted by Jatinder Kaur, Jaspreet Kaur and Simran Kaur, students of MA English first year.
