The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to bring in a proposal with an amendment to the Uttar Pradesh Ashashkiya Arbi-Farsi Viniyamavali, 2016, so that unregularised madrasa students can have access to modern education.

The Lucknow University (LU) will now offer students dual and twinning degrees from the new academic session 2023-24. The decision was taken in the academic council meeting held on Tuesday and is aimed at providing students more academic flexibility and international exposure. Under the "twinning degree programme" students will get an opportunity to spend some time at a foreign university and get insights into the course they are enrolled in LU.

The Patna High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on K.K. Pathak, the additional chief secretary of the education department, in a case of contempt of court. The matter was related to the recruitment of contractual teachers in the state. The case was filed by a job aspirant, Sangeeta Kumari, and the high court gave the decision on September 9. Kundan Kumar, the lawyer of the petitioner, claimed that the education department had been partial during the recruitment of contractual teachers. As a result, his candidate was not selected for the job.

The Meghalaya government has served a showcause notice to a school principal for playing a song that was used in the election campaign of a local political party, during the Teachers' Day celebration on September 5, an official said on Sunday. An official said that the Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Jowai in West Jaintia Hills district played the election song of Voice of the People Party (VPP), a political party in Meghalaya.

The Silver Point School in Kolkata, which recently made headlines after a Class 10 student died on Monday (September 4) after falling from the fifth floor of the school building, has announced its closure for an indefinite period starting Thursday. A notice signed by the principal was pasted on the closed gate of the school on Thursday morning, which said that the school authorities, just like the parents of the deceased student, are equally shocked by the tragic incident.

Bihar teacher associations have decided to launch agitation against the government from September 5. A meeting in this regard was held in the Youth Hostel at Gandhi Maidan on Sunday for four hours where 15 teachers associations participated.

The University Grant's Commission (UGC) has directed the universities across the country against printing Aadhaar number of students on degrees and provisional certificates. The directive by the higher education regulator comes amid reports that State Governments are considering printing of full Aadhaar numbers on provisional certificates and degrees issued by universities, for subsequent use in the verification of said documents at the time of recruitment or admission.

The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has rolled back its decision allowing students of Classes 9 to 12 to appear in the board examinations in case of 60 per cent attendance. The state Education Department had earlier made it mandatory for every student to have more than 75 per cent attendance to appear for the examinations.
