Adampur, Oct 3 (AGENCY):
Police of Adampur police station of Jalandhar Dehat have arrested a smuggler with 1 kg of opium. The arrested accused has been identified as Surendra son of Indradev Mistry, resident of Focal Point, Jalandhar. Soon the police will present the accused in the court and take him on remand.
Smuggler caught by police during blockade
According to the information, the police party of Adampur police station had received secret information that the said accused was coming towards Hoshiarpur with a huge quantity of opium. Based on the information, ASI Pritpal Singh blocked the Adampur Highway and arrested the said accused. During checking, 1 kg was recovered from him. After this, he was brought to the police station and a case was registered against him under the NDPS Act.
Police busy searching for fellow smugglers
The drug recovered from the accused is in commercial quantity. Soon the police will present the accused in the court and take him on remand. The accused will be interrogated as to where the said accused had brought the drug from and to whom he was going to give it. At the same time, the medical examination of the said accused has been done from the Civil Hospital of Jalandhar. The police is investigating the link of the accused, so that it can be known from where the said accused had brought the drugs.
