February 19, 2024

Sonipat (Haryana), 19 Feb:

Due to farmers' agitation, Haryana-Punjab and Haryana-Delhi border is sealed. Due to this the problems of all sections have increased. There is heavy traffic jam on alternative routes. Due to this, roadways buses and other vehicles are closed. The situation is such that those traveling to Chandigarh and Delhi are facing several extra hours. Due to the fortifications built on the border, communication with Delhi has almost been lost. About 100 showrooms have been closed on both sides of the national highway in six days. Not only this, there is silence throughout the day at malls and petrol pumps too. The business of dhabas, restaurants and hotels on both sides of the national highway is also affected.

In view of the confrontation between farmers and security forces at Shambhu border on February 13 regarding the Delhi march, Delhi and Sonipat police had completely sealed the Kundli border. Everyone's eyes are on the talks between the government and the farmers. Meanwhile, businesses on both sides of the national highway are affected in an area of about six kilometers from the zero point of KGP-KMP to Kundli border. About 100 showrooms have been locked. Operators say that customers are not coming due to the border being sealed. Due to this, it is forced to be locked. Workers have to travel many kilometers on foot.

Fare remains the same, journey increased, condition worsened due to traffic jam
Due to the farmers' movement, Haryana-Punjab and Haryana-Delhi border has been sealed. Due to which buses are being sent via Yamunanagar to go to Chandigarh and via Narela to go to Delhi. Due to already being jammed on these routes, buses are also getting stuck in the jam. Buses going to Chandigarh have to travel an additional 30 kilometers. It is a matter of relief that the fare has not been increased yet. However, due to jam it is taking several hours more to reach the destination.

Association president Rakesh Devgan and other industrialists say that they are facing huge losses due to the border being sealed. Industrialists say that they pay taxes to the government. Despite this why should he suffer loss? The government should assess the loss due to the period of Kundali border being sealed and issue a package for the industrialists.
