Bureau of Indian Standards and Confederation of Indian Industries celebrates World Consumer Rights Day 2024.

cMr. Amarbir Singh, Former Chairman of CII Chandigarh UT (2015-16) and Managing Director of Indian Polymer Industries, extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees, encompassing representatives from various sectors such as industries, consumer organizations, Self Help Groups, NGOs, and more. Furthermore, he recognized the importance of this day, seeing it as a golden chance to advocate for the protection and reverence of the rights of every consumer.

Mr. Rajeev P., Deputy Director General, BIS while outlining the program's objectives, emphasized the significant role QCOs play in fostering a culture of quality within a country. He also highlighted how, through effective implementation of various QCOs, BIS has safeguarded consumer rights.

During her keynote address, Dr. Jatinder kaur Arora, Executive Director, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology underscored the importance of QCOs in protecting public interest, human, animal or plant health, safety of environment, prevention of unfair trade practices and national security. 

Following the inaugural session, a technical session ensued, where attendees were briefed on the DPIIT's implementation of QCOs, BIS's standardization and conformity assessment schemes, as well as the testing facilities offered by BIS.
