March 28, 2024

Chandigarh, 28 March:

Two-time MLA Love Kumar Goldi was welcomed from BJP and former cabinet minister Malkit Singh Barmi was welcomed to Congress. Addressing the media, the senior leadership of Punjab Congress welcomed two-time former MLA Love Kumar Goldi and former Cabinet Minister Malkit Singh Birmi on their official joining of the party.

Addressing the media, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring commented that "Today we extend a warm welcome to Luv Kumar Goldiji and Malkit Singh Birmiji on their return to the Congress. Despite their absence, the ideologies have been consistent with the principles of our party.

Elaborating on this, Waring said, “Birmi ji parted ways with us in 2014 and decided to stay away from political affairs to join grassroots social initiatives. After a decade, he has decided to re-enter politics under our banner. Similarly, Goldie ji went during Captain Amarinder Singh's tenure. Now both of them have returned home to the Congress unwavering in their commitment to public service.”

He added, “Contrary to the recent trend of opportunistic political moves, these eminent leaders have consistently prioritized the welfare of the citizens of Punjab. Their return reflects our party's enduring appeal to those dedicated to the greater good."

Punjab Congress in-charge Devendra Yadav said, “The return of such dignitaries confirms our party's principle of service. Our steady growth reflects our commitment to true leadership that prioritizes public welfare.”

To a query about the party's election strategies, Yadav affirmed, “Our candidate selection process is fair, ensuring full representation and alignment with the interests of the electorate. A list of the best candidates is being released to serve the people of Punjab.”

Waring asserted, “Our election preparations are going on in full swing. Congress remains a bastion of unity, embraces diversity and empowers all members to contribute on merit. Our unwavering dedication to equitable governance sets us apart.”

Responding to questions about rumors of defection to other political parties, Manish Tiwari asserted, “I have devoted two decades to the Congress, unwavering in my loyalty. Baseless rumors have no bearing on my commitment. For further enquiries, I request you to contact BJP President. Sunil Jakhar, who can shed light on the speculations he himself started. It is important to note that Jasbir Singh Gill (DIMPA), Gurjit Singh Aujla and Amar Singh Ji have denied speculations of leaving the Congress to join other political parties.

Concluding, Waring asserted, “People of Punjab and the country are wise and know who they want to vote for. The people of the state will surely show the door to those who have jumped because they cannot be trusted. Congress gave everything to the leaders who left, they did not make the party, but the party made them. The result on June 4 will reflect the hard work done in the last two years.
