The Election Commission of India allowed journalists on election duty to vote through postal ballot: Sibin C

The Election Commission of India has allowed the media personnel of Punjab who are on duty to cover the election day to vote through postal ballot in Lok Sabha elections 2024. Giving more information in this regard, Chief Electoral Officer of Punjab Sibin C said that according to the notification issued by the Commission, media workers and officials/employees of other departments of the state government recognized by the Commission for the coverage of the voting day of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Under section 60 (c) can vote through postal ballot.

Sibin C further informed that as per the notification, the Election Commission of India has notified the staff of 6 government departments of the Punjab Government as well as the journalists accredited by the Commission to vote through postal ballot which is an essential service for the coverage of the voting day. will be engaged as employees.
