Chandigarh, 30 March:
Cash worth Rs 35 lakh has been recovered from a car with Haryana number in Chandigarh. Police of police station 36 found this cash while checking at the gate. After which the police seized the cash and the car as well. There were two persons in the car including the driver. Both have been detained by the police and are being interrogated.
Chandigarh Police has informed the Income Tax Department and the Election Commission about this matter due to the implementation of the Model Election Code. It is believed that this cash of lakhs of rupees was to be used politically in the elections. At present, the police are investigating the matter closely. The police are investigating from where and how so much cash was brought in the car during the election campaign.
