Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organised a Free Medical camp

Department of Physiotherapy Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib in collaboration with Fortis Hospitals Ludhiana, organised expert lectures and camp on the eve of  World Health Day. The theme for this year is "My Health, My Right". In line with the theme Specialists from Fortis Hospitals Ludhiana, Dr. Saurabh, endocrinologist and Dr. Manav Wadhera Cardiologist delivered their expert lectures on "Lifestyle related disorders" and "Smoking and Alcohol: How bad it is' .Dr. Manav wadhera, associate consultant of cardiology highlighted bad effects of smoking and alcohol. He said that smoking leads to increased risk of lung cancer as well as cancer of other body organs, heart diseases, blindness, decreased fertility especially in females, premature delivery and low birth weight, hypertension and reduced bone density. He also highlighted the effects of Alcohol consumption which includes high mortality and morbidity rate. Dr. Saurabh endocrinologist Fortis hospital Ludhiana shared detailed information on effects of inactive lifestyle and wrong eating habits on the health that can lead to diabesity (diabetes + obesity) and its widespread effects on all systems of the body. He emphasized on good eating habits and regular exercise. He also emphasized on timely management of diabetes and adherence to the treatment schedule as prescribed by the doctor.Pro Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar inaugurated the camp.Dr. Supreet Bindra, Assistant Professor and coordinator of the event welcomed the guests. The event was graced by the presence of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof (Dr.) Pritpal Singh and Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. SS Billing.Free consultation, free ECG, BP and sugar monitoring for the patients was the amin attraction of the camp.Dr. Pankajpreet Singh Head, Department of Physiotherapy and Convener of the event thanked the dignitaries, resource person, faculty members and students of the department for making this event a success.
