The selection trials for the upcoming 4th Sub-Junior & Senior National Kyorugi and Poomsae Taekwondo Championship 2025, scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 2 at Cuttack, Odisha, were successfully conducted today at Law Bhawan, Sector 37, Chandigarh.
The event witnessed the gracious presence of eminent personalities. Chief Guest Sh. N.K. Verma, Advocate, Former Senior Deputy Advocate General, Convener BJP Legal Cell Punjab & Member, Disciplinary Committee BJP Punjab and Guest of Honour Advocate Mohit Garg, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Legal Advisor, India Taekwondo encouraged the players and congratulated the winners.
More than 120 athletes participated in the trials, showcasing exceptional skill, discipline, and sportsmanship. The participants represented reputed institutions such as Panjab University, S.D. College, Khalsa College, Dev Samaj College, Shishu Niketan School, Carmel Convent School, and Stepping Stone School, along with various clubs and academies.
The trials were conducted under the guidance of leading Taekwondo coaches including Sh. Mahesh Thakur, IT National Refree, Sh. Gurjeet Singh Taicommando Coach, Pradeep Malik, Shivraj Gharti (Ghar-thi Taekwondo Academy), Rajesh Negi & Satpal Singh (Negi Club), Sandeep Kundu (Chandigarh Sports Department), Ajay Kumar (Onyx Academy), Ravi Kumar (R.K. Martial Arts), Surinder Singh (Negi Club), Maheshwar Dutt (Passion Academy), Gaurav Saini (Universal Academy), Devender Kumar (Velocity Academy), Teerath Raj (R.P.T.C. Academy), Vijay Lama (Khukhri Club) and Defence Club. Their active involvement ensured smooth and fair conduct of the trials.
Results in the Girls category included: Under 46 kg: Anika (Gold), Bhawna (Silver), Under 49 kg: Joya Khan (Gold), Bobby (Silver), Under 57 kg: Hansika (Gold), Bhumika (Silver) Several other athletes also secured medals and confirmed their place for the upcoming National Championship under India Taekwondo (IT).
Both guests lauded the efforts of the organizers and coaches for providing a transparent and merit-based selection platform to the budding athletes.
