Chandigarh, 26 Sept
Passengers travelling to and from Chandigarh later next month will need to brace for disruption as Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport prepares for a 13-day closure. From 1 am on 26 October until 11.59 pm on 7 November, the airport will remain closed for civil flight operations as the runway undergoes major repair work.
The Indian Air Force has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) confirming the shutdown. The closure is required for polymer modified emulsion (PME) work on the runway, with only rotary wing aircraft permitted to operate during this period, and that too with prior clearance.
Ajay Kumar, CEO of Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHIAL), said: “NOTAM has been issued for closure of runway repair from Oct 26 to Nov 7. Fresh NOTAM will be issued for resumption of flight operations.”
