How do you ensure the products and processes that are brought to us are safe? Manufacturers and exporters need to know what the latest standards are in their prospective markets before they bring them to public exposure. Implementation of standards not only brings compliance on products, services, or draws fair business amongst traders and manufacturers, but also looks over the interests of common people from uninformed risks, potential hazards, and security threats. They have the right to choose, be informed, be heard, and share grievances or complaints on unfair practices.
On 12 October 2017, the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 came into force, replacing the previous 1986 Act. Besides other changes, the new BIS Act makes it easier for the government to notify or declare products, systems, and services for which compliance with specified standards is mandatory. This notification of technical regulations by Indian ministries is often called “Quality Control Orders.” needs and connect more easily. Consumers now can easily view certified manufacturers, read standards, confirm product quality and lodge complaints in case of dissatisfaction.
