On the reduction of security for Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and cabinet minister Harpal Cheema said it is shocking that the reduction of one individual's security has left Akali Dal, BJP, and Congress deeply unsettled.

Harpal Cheema stated that the entire state of Punjab knows that during the Akali Dal-BJP government, the drug mafia expanded its network, leading to an uncontrolled supply of drugs in Punjab. At that time, several Akali leaders were provided with heavy security, even Prime-Minister level security. Shockingly, this security was granted to individuals involved in drug trafficking.

India has witnessed a massive increase in broadband subscribers, growing from 66 crore to 94.49 crore, while the per capita average monthly wireless data consumption has also seen a sharp rise, doubling from 10 GB to 21.10 GB, the government said on Wednesday.

The speed of mobile broadband has improved significantly as well. According to Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index, the median mobile broadband download speed surged from 10.71 Mbps in 2019 to 144.33 Mbps in February 2025.

Highlighting the country's rapid progress in digital infrastructure, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Jitin Prasada, said in Lok Sabha that the fixed broadband download speeds have increased from 29.25 Mbps to 61.66 Mbps during the same period.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made remarkable progress in developing the country's highway infrastructure, as it constructed 5,614 kms of national highways in FY25, surpassing its target of 5,150 kms, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways data on Wednesday.

This achievement highlights the authority’s commitment to improving road connectivity across India. According to the Ministry, the NHAI also recorded its highest-ever capital expenditure in a single financial year.

The total expenditure for highway development in FY 2024-25 reached over Rs 2,50,000 crore (provisional), exceeding the target of Rs 2,40,000 crore.

This includes both government budgetary support and the NHAI’s own resources. Compared to Rs 2,07,000 crore spent in FY 2023-24, the expenditure saw an increase of around 21 per cent.

The rise was even more significant when compared to FY 2022-23, with a 45 per cent jump from Rs 1,73,000 crore.
