Chunky Panday says he had a 'laugh riot' while filming ‘Son of Sardaar 2’

Actor Chunky Panday had a great time shooting for his latest release “Son Of Sardaar 2” and said it was a “laugh riot” filming it.

Chunky took to his Instagram, where he shared a string of pictures with all his “Sardaars” from the sets of the film in Scotland.

He wrote: “Scotland and all my Sardaars had such Laugh Riot Filming Son of Sardaar 2 with @devgnfilms. Im sure you'll will feel the same while watching it Releasing today in cinemas next to you.”

Son of Sardaar 2 is a Hindi-language comedy film directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. It is a standalone sequel to the 2012 action comedy film Son of Sardaar, and stars Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and Sanjay Mishra. It is also the posthumous film of Mukul Dev. In the film, a man fakes being a war hero to assist a couple in gaining their parents' approval for their marriage.

The Indian markets started the day on the lower side on Friday, tracking weak global cues amid new Trump tariffs. The pharmaceutical stocks took the biggest hit, with Nifty Pharma declining 2.75 per cent.

At 9.25 am, Nifty 50 was down 51 points or 0.21 per cent from yesterday's close, now at 24,716, while the BSE Sensex has slipped 179 points or 0.22 per cent, trading at 81,005.

Among broad market indices, both BSE MidCap and BSE SmallCap rose 0.05 per cent.

Among sectoral indices, the Nifty FMCG index was an outlier with a gain of 1.46 per cent. Apart from strong selling in pharma stocks, Nifty IT shed 0.80 per cent, the Nifty Metal index fell 0.99 per cent.

Ayush sector has the potential to define India’s leadership in integrative medicine, said Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Ayush, on Thursday.

Addressing the ‘Ayush Stakeholders Consultative Meeting 2025’ organised by FICCI, jointly with the Ministry of Ayush, Jadhav reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the holistic growth of the Ayush sector.

Emphasising the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, he urged the industry to collaborate in elevating ayurveda, siddha, unani, sowa-rigpa, naturopathy, yoga, and homoeopathy to global prominence.

“We must collectively strive to make Ayush systems the first choice in preventive and therapeutic healthcare -- locally and globally,” Jadhav said.

“From ‘Vocal for Local’ to ‘Global for Local’, this sector has the potential to define India’s leadership in integrative medicine,” he added.

South Korea: Heat-related death toll rises to 16 amid record long heat wave

A total of 16 people have died from heat-related illnesses in South Korea so far this year as the country continues to endure severe heat waves, health authorities said on Thursday.

A total of 2,900 patients had visited emergency rooms for heat-related conditions as of Wednesday since mid-May, when authorities launched the heat-related illness surveillance system. Of those patients, 16 have died, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), News Agency reported.

As the heat wave persists, daily cases of heat-related illnesses have exceeded 100 for nine consecutive days since July 22. Deaths have also been reported for four days in a row.

Compared with the same period last year, the number of patients has increased about 2.6 times, while the number of deaths more than doubled, the KDCA said.

Among the patients reported this year, heat exhaustion, commonly known as sunstroke, accounted for 60.7 per cent, followed by heat stroke at 16.4 per cent, heat cramps at 13.4 per cent and heat syncope at 8.1 per cent.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday said the sacrifice and courage of revolutionary Shaheed Udham Singh would always inspire people.

He recalled that Udham Singh avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 by killing Michael O'Dwyer, then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab.

"Udham Singh was hanged in London on July 31, 1940. This act of bravery remains an everlasting inspiration for the entire nation and a beacon of patriotism," said the Chief Minister, while addressing a public meeting at Sunam, the birthplace of Shaheed Udham Singh, in Punjab's Sangrur district.

Earlier, the Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the Shaheed Udham Singh Memorial. He also planted a sapling at the memorial and visited the Udham Singh Museum, where he saw photographs, letters, and memories associated with the martyr. He recorded his thoughts in the visitor's book.

6 Bangladeshi infiltrators, 1 local agent arrested in Murshidabad

The West Bengal Police on Thursday arrested six illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators and one local Indian accomplice in Murshidabad district.

Acting on credible information, officers of Raninagar Police Station in Murshidabad district conducted a raid at Katlamari II Gram Panchayat area, under its jurisdiction, which led to the arrest.

The arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Mohammad Abdulla (20), Ketabur Ali (26), Kamaluddin Rahaman (28), Kalimuddin Rahaman (25), Mohammad Salim (37), and Mohammad Juel Rana (24).

They hail from Chapai Nababganj, Rajshahi, and Feni districts of Bangladesh.

The monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly is set to begin on Friday, August 1. Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato convened an all-party meeting on Thursday to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the session.

Vedanta Limited on Thursday reported a fall of 12.5 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30 (Q1 FY26), at Rs 4,457 crore compared to Rs 5,095 crore in the same quarter previous year (Q1 FY25).

Despite the drop in profit, the company’s revenue from operations rose 5.8 per cent to Rs 37,824 crore in the April–June quarter, up from Rs 35,764 crore in the year-ago period, according to a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Total income also grew 5.7 per cent to Rs 38,809 crore from Rs 36,698 crore a year earlier.

The company’s total expenses increased to Rs 32,756 crore in the June quarter from Rs 30,772 crore in the same period previous year.

One killed, 14 injured in central Afghanistan road accident

One person was killed and 14 others injured after their vehicle veered off the road and turned turtle in central Afghanistan's Bamiyan province, News Agency reported late Wednesday.

The mishap occurred in the Kotal Bukak area of Yakawlang district, where a mini-bus overturned due to a technical fault, killing one traveler on the spot and injuring 14 others, including women and children, the Afghan news agency quoted Mohammad Khawani Rasa, provincial police spokesman, as saying.

According to Rasa, all the injured were transported to nearby health centers for treatment.
