A major security scare unfolded at Patna Airport on Wednesday afternoon after a bomb threat message was received targeting Indigo flight 6E921 en route from Ahmedabad to Patna.

The incident triggered a high alert, leading to an emergency landing and a comprehensive security sweep of the aircraft.

The alert was raised at 12:45 PM when Indigo station manager Shalini received a threatening message via WhatsApp.

She promptly alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC), and within just eight minutes, the flight landed safely at 12:53 PM on the runway.

Following the emergency landing, CISF, Bihar Police, airport authorities, and intelligence agencies swiftly mobilised.

On Wednesday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully rescued 33 people, including two US nationals, from the remote Chaten region of North Sikkim.

In addition to the evacuation efforts, the IAF also air-dropped vital relief supplies and inserted National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams to assist those affected in the region.

"In response to the devastating landslides in Sikkim, Indian Air Force Mi-17 helicopters rapidly launched HADR Ops -- air-dropping relief supplies, inserting NDRF teams, and evacuating 33 stranded individuals, including two US nationals, from the remote Chaten region. IAF remains committed to saving lives," the IAF stated in a post on X.

Eleven people were injured on Wednesday in a road accident in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.

Officials said that a load carrier went out of the driver's control at the CISF checkpost in the Jyotipuram area of Reasi district.

"After the driver of the load carrier lost control of the wheel, the vehicle dropped into a gorge, injuring 11 persons. The vehicle dropped down nearly 50 feet from the road. The injured were shifted to the Reasi district hospital. Doctors at the hospital said the condition of the injured is being monitored. Police have registered a case," the officials said.

Overloading, speeding, and road rage are the main reasons for road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the hilly districts of Jammu region, including Doda, Poonch, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Ramban and Reasi.

The Traffic Department has deployed special squads in the hilly areas to ensure that the safety rules are not violated by drivers in these areas.

Most of the accidents occur due to speeding by the transport vehicles, the officials said.

In the aftermath of the devastating landslide in North Sikkim, the Indian Army is working relentlessly under extreme weather and hazardous terrain conditions to assist residents and stranded tourists, officials said on Wednesday.

A senior official said that Lachen village, the main hub for tourism in the region, has been completely cut off. The Army has established foot connectivity to the village and reached out to 113 stranded tourists, who will be evacuated soon.

“On Tuesday, 30 tourists, including some foreign nationals, were successfully airlifted by military helicopters,” he added.

Search operations have continued with urgency to locate the six individuals still missing after the landslide struck a military camp at Chaten. The missing include Lieutenant Colonel Pritpal Singh Sandhu, Subedar Dharamveer, Naik Sunilal Muchahary, Sepoy Sainudheen P.K., Squadron Leader Aarti Sandhu (Retd), wife of Lieutenant Colonel Sandhu, and their daughter, Miss Amayra Sandhu.

The gorge is in three layers, and the NDRF, SDRF and SOT have gone down to the last layer. They have recovered the victim's phone and the weapon used in the crime. The dao and a knife have been seized."

Nine people, including four children and three women, died in a tragic accident that occurred in Jhabua district, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday when a cement-laden mixer truck overturned onto a van, resulting in the immediate death of its occupants.

However, two survived but received severe injuries. The accident took place near the Sajeli railway crossing under the Kalyanpura police station area at around 3 a.m., the police officials said.

“An over-bridge and a road are under construction, as a result, vehicles take a diversion route. The truck, a concrete mixer, was en route to Jhabua from Thandla when the driver lost control while making a sudden turn. He might be rashly driving the vehicle; due to the roadwork, he was unable to negotiate with a van approaching from the opposite direction at the railway crossing construction site. The van got stuck in the diesel tank of the truck, bearing registration number RJ 09 GC 7915, and was dragged for about 40-50 feet. A roadside ditch caused the truck to overturn onto the van, leading to the immediate deaths of nine passengers,” Prem Lal Kurve, Additional Superintendent of Police, Jhabua, told.
